How do I register for ORMatch?
You can register for ORMatch online in the NMS Match System. You will need to provide information about yourself, including the OE Tracker Number issued to you by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, accept the ORMatch Applicant Agreement, and pay a non-refundable registration fee.

What are the rules of ORMatch?
All applicants and programs must agree to abide by the ORMatch rules, the Schedule of Dates, and accept the terms of the Match Agreements when they register for ORMatch.

When is the registration deadline?
It is recommended that you register to participate in the ORMatch by December 31, 2024, although registrations will be accepted after that date. The final deadline to register to participate in the ORMatch is February 25, 2025.
Programs require a significant amount of time to review applications, conduct interviews, and evaluate applicants. Most programs submit their Rank Order Lists for the Match well before those deadlines. Therefore, to ensure you are properly considered and able to be ranked by programs, you should register well before the final date listed above.

Do I need to have taken the NBEO exams in order to register?
While you are not required to have taken your NBEO exams in order to register, you must have your NBEO Part I examiniation score and a copy of your unofficial online NBEO Score Report in order to submit an application to a US-based program.
If you are applying exclusively to Canadian programs, contact ORMatch for an exemption from the NBEO reporting requirement.

Where do I obtain an OE Tracker Number?
You can obtain your OE Tracker Number from the National Board of Examiners in Optometry website.
Fees

What does it cost to participate in ORMatch?
There is a fee of $350 USD to register for ORMatch.
The registration fee to participate in ORMatch includes credits to send 10 applications to residencies using the ORMatch Application Service; an additional application credits can be purchased at a cost of $25 USD per credit. Applicants who do not match will be provided with 10 additional free credits to submit applications in the Post-Match Process.
All ORMatch fees are non-refundable (even if you subsequently decide to withdraw from ORMatch) and are not transferable to future years or to other applicants.

Can I get a refund of my registration fee?
No. As stated in the Applicant Agreement and on the registration and application credit payment pages, ORMatch fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, and irrevocable. They cannot be refunded, transferred to another person, or used for another year.

What login credentials do I use?
Log into the NMS Match System using the email address and password you set up when registering for ORMatch. If you have changed your email or password in the NMS Match System since registering, use those new values to log in.

How do I reset my password?
If you do not know your password, use the "Forgot Password?" link located on the NMS Match System Login page.

How do I find my ORMatch Code Number?
Your ORMatch Code Number is shown in the NMS Match System:
- Log in to the NMS Match System
- Select the Profile section on the Dashboard
- Your Code Number will be found at the top of the page
Withdraw

What are the implications of withdrawing from ORMatch?
If you withdraw, you will not be matched to a position. Any rankings you may have submitted will not be used in the Match. You will also not receive further communication about participating in ORMatch from NMS. However, you will still have access to the List of Programs with Available Positions that is posted for the Post-Match Process.
Applicants who withdraw from ORMatch will be displayed to residencies within the NMS Match System as withdrawn.
Withdrawing from ORMatch does not effect your eligibility to participate in the Post-Match Process, or to participate in ORMatch in future years.

Withdrawn applicants are permitted to seek positions in the Post-Match Process, and will have access to information on positions that are available in the Post-Match Process starting March 4, 2025.
