Match result information will be available at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 27, 2023.
Content
When the results are released, the following information will be available:
- Residency Sites will be told which applicant(s) matched to their program(s), and whether the residency site has any unfilled positions.
- All applicants will be informed of their Match result.
- Directors of Residencies at schools and colleges of optometry will have access to results and statistics for programs that are affiliated with their school, and a list of results for applicants from their school.
- A list of programs with positions available for the Post-Match Process will be posted publicly on this website.
- Summary statistics of the results of ORMatch for applicants and residency sites will be posted publicly on this website.
- Starting at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 28, 2023, Residency Sites and Directors of Residencies will have access to a list of matched applicants and information on each applicant who submitted an application or certified a Rank Order List but did not obtain a position or who withdrew but indicated they are still seeking a position.
In June, ORMatch will send to residency sites updated NBEO Score Report Data for all of their matched applicants.
Distribution
Email: Match result notification emails will be sent in the morning of March 27, 2023 with the intention of having all emails sent before 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time. Results will be sent by email to residency sites that participated in the Match (i.e., certified a Rank Order List and did not withdraw). Due to unreliable email exchanges and inbound servers, the delivery time for the emails cannot be guaranteed.
Web: Match result information will be available in the NMS Match System beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 27, 2023.
The same Match result information will be provided by email and online. Any residency site that does not receive the result by email should access their result online.
Post-Match Process
Following release of the results, programs with unfilled positions are permitted to seek and fill positions that remain available independently of ORMatch.
In order to give all Post-Match participants time to consider their options, applicants and programs must abide by the following schedule:
March 27, 2023, 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time: Post-Match Applications Open
- A List of Programs with Available Positions will be provided publicly on this website beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 27, 2023. Information on this list may be updated by Program Coordinators.
- Programs are able to obtain applications from applicants in any manner they desire, including directly from applicants. Applicants that registered for ORMatch can access the NMS Match System during the Post-Match Process to send applications to programs online, or they may send applications to programs directly. Individuals who did not register for ORMatch prior to the Rank Order List deadline but are seeking positions in the Post-Match Process must send applications to programs directly.
- Programs and applicants are free to contact each other, share information, and conduct interviews. However, no offers of appointment may be made or accepted prior to March 29, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time.
March 28, 2023, 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time: Unmatched Applicant List Available to Programs
- Residency Sites and Directors of Residencies at schools and colleges of optometry will have access to information on applicants who submitted an application or certified a Rank Order but were not matched, or who withdrew but indicated they are still seeking a position.
- Programs and applicants are free to contact each other, share information, and conduct interviews. However, no offers of appointment may be made or accepted prior to March 29, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time.
March 29, 2023, 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time: Post-Match Offers Begin
- Programs may offer Post-Match positions to applicants and applicants may accept the positions.
- If a program fills a position in the Post-Match Process, the program may request that NMS include the NBEO scores for the newly appointed applicant in the June distribution of NBEO scores for matched applicants.
Match Statistics
Aggregate statistics on the participation and outcome of the Match will be posted online at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 27, 2023.
