Before You Withdraw
Only programs that are no longer offering positions that start between June 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025 should withdraw from the MedPhys Match.
No Applicants to Rank: If a program has positions available that start between June 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025 that you would like to fill, but has no acceptable applicants to rank, you should not withdraw the program as its positions can be offered in the Post-Match Process. In this case, you should certify a Rank Order List with no ranks in the NMS Match System. The program will remain active in the MedPhys Match, and will be included on the List of Programs with Available Positions for the Post-Match Process.
Implications of Withdrawing
A withdrawn program will not be included in the matching process, will not be matched with any applicants, and will not be included on the List of Programs with Available Positions that is posted for the use of unmatched applicants in the Post-Match Process.
A withdrawn program is still bound by the terms of the Residency Agreement and MedPhys Match Rules. Withdrawal of the program indicates that there are no positions available. If positions subsequently become available, you may not contact applicants regarding positions available in the Post-Match Process until after the results of the MedPhys Match are released at 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on March 28, 2025. If you decide to submit rankings of applicants for the MedPhys Match, you can reinstate the program prior to the Rank Order List deadline without having to execute another Residency Agreement.
If you withdraw a program, any rankings of applicants that may have been submitted for the program will not be used in the MedPhys Match. Programs that certify a Rank Order List and do not withdraw by the Rank Order List deadline will be included in the matching process and will be obliged to accept the MedPhys Match results.
