Key Dates

August 2023: Residency registration emails for participation in the Match are sent to Program Directors.

November 1, 2023: The list of programs participating in the Match will be posted on this website.

November 1, 2023: Applicants can register for the Match via the shared PhORCAS/Match Portal. The registration portal can be accessed from the Applicant Registration page, or directly at portal.phorcas.org.

December 15, 2023: The deadline for PGY2 programs to offer and for PGY1 residents to accept positions though the Early Commitment Process is 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

December 31, 2023: Recommended date by which applicants should register for the Match.

February 12, 2024: Applicants and programs may begin to submit Rank Order Lists for Phase I of the Match.

Match Overview

Match Overview

The ASHP Match provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain positions in either postgraduate year one (PGY1) or postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency programs of their choice, and to help residencies obtain applicants of their choice.

Rules & Eligibility

Each applicant and residency must accept a Match Agreement when they register to participate in the Match, and must agree to abide by the ASHP Match Rules.

Matching Algorithm

The matching algorithm uses the preferences stated on the Rank Order Lists submitted by applicants and programs to fill available positions.

Statistics

Statistics

Aggregate statistics of the Match results from previous years are available. Statistics for the 2024 Match will be available on the Match Results Days for each Phase of the Match.
