Post-Match Process (Unmatched Applicant Program)
Genetic counseling programs accredited by the ACGC work together to try to ensure that as many qualified candidates as possible are admitted to programs each year.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on April 19, 2023, programs with available positions are permitted to fill those positions, independently of the Match, with applicants that did not obtain a position in the Match. NMS is not involved in the filling of positions during the Post-Match Process.
Programs may choose to be included on the List Programs with Available Positions that is provided to unmatched applicants in the NMS Match System beginning at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on April 19, 2023. The list can include programs that participated in the Match that have positions available, as well as programs that obtained ACGC accreditation after March 15, 2023 that have chosen to participate in the 2023 Post-Match Process. Unmatched applicants are encouraged to take the initiative in contacting programs which they are seriously interested in attending.
Information on the List of Programs with Available Positions may be updated. Programs and positions can be removed from the list at any time and new positions may be added as they become available. Programs that have a new position become available should notify AGCPD prior to adding the position to the Post-Match list.
Programs will have access to information on unmatched applicants via the NMS Match System beginning at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on April 19, 2023. Programs may request that interested unmatched applicants complete an application, provide associated materials, and attend an interview. Programs may also ask the applicant for permission to talk to the programs where the applicant previously interviewed.
The Post-Match Process will close on May 31, 2023.
