Match result information for the GC Admissions Match will be available at 12:00 p.m. noon ET on April 27, 2018.
When the results of the Match are released, the following information will be available to applicants:
- The Match result obtained by each individual applicant
- For unmatched applicants - a list of positions that remain available after the Match. Programs with available positions will be able to access information on unmatched applicants
- Summary statistics of the results of the Match for applicants and programs
Match result notification e-mails will be sent on April 27, 2018 with the intention of having all e-mails sent by 12:00 p.m. noon ET. Results will be sent by email to applicants that participated in the Match (i.e., certified a Rank Order List and did not withdraw). Due to unreliable e-mail exchanges and inbound message handling, the time of e-mail delivery cannot be guaranteed.
Beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon ET on April 27, 2018, each registered applicant and program can log in to the NMS Match System to access their personal Match result online.
Programs must send letters of confirmation to their matched applicants within 10 working days of the release of the results. Matched applicants must return the letter in accordance with the program's instructions within 17 working days of the release of the Match results, not later than May 22, 2018.
Post-Match Process (Unmatched Applicant Program)
Genetic counseling programs accredited by the ACGC work together to try to ensure that as many qualified candidates as possible are admitted to tracks each year.
Following release of the results, programs with available positions are permitted to fill those positions, independent of the Match, with applicants that did not obtain a position in the Match. NMS is not involved in the filling of positions during the Post-Match Process.
A list of Programs with Available Positions will be provided to unmatched applicants via the NMS Match System beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon ET on April 27, 2018. The list may include both programs that participated in the Match that have positions available, as well as programs that obtained ACGC accreditation after March 15, 2018 that have chosen to participate in the 2018 Post-Match Process. Unmatched applicants are encouraged to take the initiative in contacting programs which they are seriously interested in attending.
Information on the List of Programs with Available Positions may be updated by Program Directors. Programs and/or positions may be removed from the list as they are filled, or new positions may be added as they become available.
Programs will have access to information on unmatched applicants via the NMS Match System beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon ET on April 27, 2018. Programs may request that interested unmatched applicants complete an application, provide associated materials, and/or attend an interview. Programs may also ask the applicant for permission to talk to the programs where the applicant previously interviewed.
The Post-Match Process will close on May 31, 2018.
