Results For Programs

2022 SSO Breast Match

Match Results

Programs must log into the NMS Match System to access their Match result.

Log Into the NMS Match System
  • Match Result Information Available
    • A downloadable PDF report which shows the applicants matched to your program, the number of positions offered and filled, summary statistics on the rankings received by your program, and the results obtained by applicants ranked by your program.
    • Information on registered applicants who submitted an application or certified a Rank Order List but were not matched.
    • Summary statistics of the results of the SSO Breast Match for applicants and programs.

You must send a letter of confirmation of the Match result to the applicants matched to your program as soon as possible and no later than 10 working days after the release of the SSO Breast Match results. Applicants must return the letter in accordance with the program’s instructions within 30 days of the release of the SSO Breast Match results.

Although NMS makes every effort to provide you with your Match result expeditiously, failure to receive your result in a timely manner does not affect your obligation to the applicants matched to your program.

If an applicant does not honor their Match commitment, report the case to SSO. It is the responsibility of the Program Director to notify SSO of any changes in the status of a matched fellow.

Post-Match Process

Programs with unfilled positions are permitted to seek and fill positions that remain available independently of the SSO Breast Match. NMS is not involved in the filling of positions during the Post-Match Process.

It is the responsibility of the Program Director to notify SSO of any fellow taken outside of the Match. Programs must notify SSO in writing within 30 days of the acceptance of an unmatched applicant.

Programs can log in to the NMS Match System to download information on applicants who registered for the SSO Breast Match, did not match, and may still be seeking a position. Applications for the Post-Match Process must be sent by applicants directly to programs (i.e., not through the NMS Match System).

Applicants who are not matched can access a List of Programs with Available Positions in the NMS Match System. Any program that did not fill all its positions is included on the list. Programs may log in to the NMS Match System to update information on the list.

  • Instructions for Updating the Post-Match List of Programs with Available Positions

Programs must log into the NMS Match System in order to update their contact information or the number of positions shown on the List of Programs with Available Positions.

    • Updating Contact Information: Changes to contact information are made in the Profile section of the NMS Match System. Contact changes will apply only to the List of Programs with Available Positions, and will not be reflected permanently in NMS records. Permanent changes to contact information after the Rank Order List deadline must be submitted to NMS in writing, not through the NMS Match System.

    • Updating the Number of Available Positions: The number of Post-Match positions available can be changed from the Program Dashboard. Programs can be added to the List by setting the number of available positions to a number greater than zero, or removed from the List by setting the number of available positions to zero.

The NMS Match System will close on August 31, 2022. Programs will not be able to access Match Result Reports, applications, or make any updates after that date.
