Match Results Day

  • I will be unavailable to receive emails the day results are released.

If you will be unable to receive email or access your program's Match results online on the Match Results Day, you can provide a written and signed request to NMS on program letterhead to send the email of the results to an alternate contact. The request letter can be scanned or photographed and sent as an email attchment to ssobreast@natmatch.com prior to the Match Results Day.

The alternate email will not replace the email currently on file in the NMS Match System. All account and program contact information will remain the same.

The alternate contact will receive an email with the Match results. NMS will send the result to only one email address for each program.

  • Why is there 11 days between the Rank Order List deadline and the Match Results Day?

NMS spends time between the Rank Order List deadline and Match Results Day checking and re-checking the data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Match results. Before we can process the Match, we look for potential errors or mistakes in the rankings submitted by applicants and programs. We are able to catch some (but not all) errors, and it does take a significant amount of time to reach these participants to follow-up, verify, and correct these mistakes. Program Directors and applicants are generally busy and can be very difficult to reach. We then have to run the matching algorithm and prepare the results for distribution via the various channels.

  • Can I get a copy of my Rank Order List?

You are able to view and print a Rank Order List in the NMS Match System until 4 days after the Match Results Day. You are strongly encouraged to print a copy of your Rank Order List for your records before it is removed from the NMS Match System.

  • Can I get a copy of my results?

An email containing your results is sent to you on the Match Results Day. Your results are also available online in the NMS Match System until August 31, 2021. You are strongly encouraged to save a copy of the result notification for your program's records before it is removed from the NMS Match System.

Post-Match Process

  • How does the Post-Match Process work?

Following release of the results, programs with available positions are free to contact and fill those positions with applicants who did not obtain a position in the Match. Programs obtain applications directly from applicants. Applicants that registered for the SSO Breast Match can access the NMS Match System during the Post-Match Process to download their previously submitted applications. Applicants are encouraged to contact the programs they are interested in if they have questions about the application procedures for the Post-Match Process.

Programs that fill positions during the Post-Match Process are not required to notify NMS of the placement; however, programs should update the number of positions still available in the NMS Match System, and remove themselves from the List of Programs with Available Positions when all their positions are filled.

Programs must notify SSO in writing within 30 days of the acceptance of the applicant. It is the responsibility of the Program Director to notify SSO of any fellow taken outside of the Match or of any changes in the status of a matched fellow.
