NMS Match System Access

  • Log Into the NMS Match System

You can access the NMS Match System by selecting the Log In option in the menubutton in the top-right corner of the screen.

To log into the NMS Match System you will need to enter both the email address and password that you previously set up in the system (e.g., when you registered your training site for the Match).

If you have more than one program registered in the Match, you will be presented with a list of the programs after you log into the system. You must select a program from the list in order to reach the Dashboard page for the program.

  • Forgot Password?

If you do not know your password, please use the Forgot Password? link provided on the NMS Match System login page and follow the instructions to reset your password.

    forgot password

If you cannot remember the answers to your security questions, please contact NMS for assistance.

Please Note: You will need your password to certify your Rank Order List. It is advised that you use a password you can remember, rather than a randomly generated password that is saved in your browser.

  • Support PIN

Your support PIN is available in the Account section. Log in to the NMS Match System and choose Account from the menu.

The support PIN is a secret number that you can use to verify your identity and ownership of the account when you contact NMS support. The PIN must be 6 digits and may not begin with a zero.

  • Update Account Information

In the Account section, you may update your access credentials, including your email address, password, and security questions, and add an additional program to your internship.

If you hold account roles for more than one internship, any changes to your access credentials will apply to all your associated roles.

Please ensure your email address is accurate, as your internship's Match results and all official Match correspondence will be sent to that address. For training sites participating in Phase II, the email address of the Training Director will be included on the Phase II of List of Participating Internships posted on the Match website for applicants' reference.

Training Directors can also update and manage secondary users for the program from the Account page.

  • New/Changed Training Director

If there is a change in Training Director, the following information should be updated for the Training Director role on the Account Page of the NMS Match System:

    • Training Director name
    • email address
    • password
    • security questions

You should also check the Profile page and update other internship contact information, like phone, and mailing address if necessary.

If possible, the former Training Director should update the system to make you the Training Director. They should log into the system, go to the Account page, update the Training Director name, enter your email address, and provide a temporary password for you. You can then log in with your email address and the temporary password, and update your password and the rest of the information on the Account and Profile pages as required.

If the former Training Director is not available and you do not have access to the login credentials created by the former Training Director, you must send a signed request to NMS, on the internship's letterhead, providing your email address and requesting that NMS update the login information for your internship. The letter can be sent to psychint@natmatch.com.

  • Add/Manage Secondary Users

Training Directors can add and remove new secondary users who will have access to their training site in the NMS Match System.

    Add Users:

    • Select the Account option from the NMS Match System menu
    • Select the Manage Users button in the Users section of the Account page
      Manage users

    • Select the Add New User button
      Add new user

    • Provide the user's name, phone number, email address, and select a permissions level

Permissions are assigned at the training site level. Users will have the same permissions for all programs offered by your training site. The available permissions levels are:

      • Restricted User: A Restricted User can view, manage, and change all interview information. They have read-only access to training site and program information (e.g., status, positions, profile information, results, etc.) and do not have access to view or edit rankings information. The Restricted User will also be copied on relevant automated emails (e.g., confirmations, reminders, etc.) sent to the Training Director from the NMS Match System.
    • Select the Add button. This will automatically send an email to the user prompting them to create their own unique login credentials for the NMS Match System. If the user already has an account in the NMS Match System, your training site will be added to their list of options when they log in to their account.

    Remove User:

If you remove a user, they will no longer have access to your training site and will no longer receive any communications about your training site from the NMS Match System.

    • Select the Account option from the NMS Match System menu.
    • Select the Manage Users button in the Users section of the Account page.
      Manage users

    • Select the X located next to the user's name from the list of users for your training site.
    • Confirm that you want to remove the user by selecting OK.

Manage Your Program(s)

After you log into the NMS Match System for a program, you are presented with a Dashboard. The Dashboard shows your program's current participation status in the Match, the number of positions being offered, any school/university limits set for the program, and information about the program's rankings for the Match.

Training Directors that have more than one program registered in the Match will be presented with a list of their programs after they log into the system. You must select one program from the list to reach the main Dashboard page for the program.

  • Switch to the Dashboard of Another Program

If you have more than one program registered for the Match, you can use the Switch button at the top of the Dashboard to access the Dashboard of another program without having to log out of the system.

  • Change the Number of Positions Offered by a Program

    Phase II

All positions left unfilled in Phase I of the Match are to be offered in Phase II. Positions that become available after Phase I of the Match, such as positions for which funding becomes assured after the Phase I Rank Order List deadline or newly created positions, may also be offered to eligible applicants in Phase II of the Match.

You are not able to change the number of positions offered by a program in Phase II using the NMS Match System.

Requests to add or remove positions in Phase II must be submitted to NMS Match System in writing on your training site's letterhead and will be directed to APPIC for approval. The request must be sent to NMS as a scanned email attachment to psychint@natmatch.com as soon as possible, and no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on March 18, 2026. The request must include:

    • Name of the training site
    • Name and Match Code Number of the program
    • Total number of positions to be offered by the program in Phase II
    • Reason why the addition or removal of position(s) in Phase II is required
    • Training Director's written signature
  • Participation Status - Withdraw or Reinstate a Program

The Status section of the Dashboard shows the program's participation status in the Match. All registered programs that intend to offer positions in Phase II of the Match should have a status of Active.

If the program is no longer offering positions in 2026, it should withdraw from the Match.

If your program has positions available but no acceptable applicants, you should not withdraw the program but should certify a Rank Order List with no ranks.

    To withdraw from the Match:

    • Select the Edit button in the Status section of the Dashboard
    • Select a reason for withdrawing
    • Enter your password and press Submit.
    edit status

If you withdrew a program in Phase I but now want that program to participate in Phase II of the Match, you must send an email request to NMS to reinstate the program. The request must be submitted on your training site's letterhead, signed by the Training Director, and must indicate: the name of the training site; the name and Match Code Number of the programs; the total number of positions to be offered by the programs in Phase II; and, the reason why you are adding position(s) in Phase II.

If you withdrew a program during Phase II but now want that program to participate in Phase II of the Match, you can reinstate the program using the NMS Match System.

To reinstate the program in the Match:

    • Select the Edit button in the Status section of the Dashboard
    • Follow the instructions provided on the screen to complete the reinstatement process.
  • University/School Limits

You can attempt to limit the number of applicants from any one university/school who are matched to a single program using University/School Limits. You must set an Initial Limit and Final Limit to be used by the matching algorithm. The limits are entered on the program's Dashboard in the NMS Match System.

    • Select the Edit button in the University/School Limits section of the Dashboard
    • Select the appropriate Initial Limit and Final Limit
    • Press the Submit button

Consult the University/School Limits page for more information about how this feature works and how to set the correct Initial Limit and Final Limit.

  • Add a New Program to Your Training Site

You cannot add programs to your training site using the NMS Match System during Phase II.

Requests to add a program to Phase II must be submitted to NMS in writing. The request must be submitted on your training site's letterhead, signed by the Training Director, and must indicate: the name of the training site; the name and Match Code Number of the program; the number of positions to be offered in Phase II by the program; and, the reason why the addition of the program is required. The request must be sent to NMS as a scanned email attachment sent to psychint@natmatch.com and must be received at NMS as soon as possible, and no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on March 18, 2026

  • Update Internship and/or Program Information

Select the Profile option from the NMS Match System menu to update your program description and training site information (training site display name, Training Director name, mailing address, telephone number, and fax number).

You may edit most of this information until the Rank Order List deadline. However, you cannot change the training site's display name or the program description once the NMS Match System is open for rankings.

If your training site has more than one program in the Match, any changes you make to the training site information for one program are made automatically for all programs at the training site. You cannot have different contact information for different programs within your training site.

    To update your Profile information:

    • Select the Edit button next to the information you want to change
    • Update the information
    • Press the Save button

Detailed instructions about the content to be entered into each field can be found by pressing the tooltip icon (?) next to the field name.
