Registration Process & Fees
How do I register for the APPIC Match?
You register to participate in the APPIC Match online in the NMS Match System. You will need to identify your doctoral program, agree to abide by the terms of the Applicant Agreement and the APPIC Match Policies, and pay a non-refundable Match registration fee.
When is the registration deadline?
It is recommended that you register to participate in the APPIC Match by December 1, 2021, although registrations will be accepted after that date. However, if you register after December 31, 2021, your Director of Clinical Training will need to provide online authorization before you will be able to complete the registration process.
If you intend to participate in Phase I of the Match, you should be registered before entry of Rank Order Lists for Phase I begins on January 17, 2022 so that programs can rank you when they submit their Rank Order Lists. If you intend to participate only in Phase II of the Match, you must register by the Phase I Rank Order List deadline, February 4, 2022.
The final registration deadline for either Phase I or Phase II of the Match is February 4, 2022. No applicant registrations are allowed after February 4, 2022.
How do I know if I am attending an eligible doctoral program?
Consult the list of Eligible Doctoral Programs to determine whether your doctoral program is eligible to send students into the Match.
If your doctoral program does not appear on the list, review APPIC's Policy on Doctoral Program Associates which outlines the eligibility criteria for doctoral programs. If your doctoral program does not appear in this list, but you believe it should be eligible, please discuss the situation with your Director of Clinical Training (DCT).
What is the fee to register for the Match?
The applicant registration fee is $130 USD, payable by credit card when you register.
Can I get a refund of my registration fee?
No. As stated in the Applicant Agreement and on the registration payment page, the applicant registration fee is non-refundable, non-transferable and irrevocable. It cannot be refunded, transferred to another person, or used for another year.
Do I need to register and pay twice to participate in both Phase I and II of the Match?

Can I register to participate in Phase II after the Phase I Rank Order List Deadline?

How do I find and use my Match Code Number?
Your Match Code Number can be found in the NMS Match System:
- Log in to the NMS Match System
- Select the Profile section on the Dashboard
- Your Match Code Number is found at the top of the page
Use your Match Code Number in all future correspondence pertaining to the Match. You should also enter your Match Code Number into your AAPI application, so that the programs you apply to will be able to identify you by your Code Number.
What are the implications of withdrawing from the Match?
When you withdraw, you must indicate which Phase(s) of the Match you are withdrawing from.
If you withdraw from either Phase of the Match, you will not be matched to a position in that Phase of the Match. You will be displayed to training sites within the NMS Match System as withdrawn for that Phase. Any rankings of programs you may have submitted for that Phase of the Match will not be used in the Match.
Withdrawn applicants are permitted to seek positions after each Phase of the Match. Applicants who withdraw from Phase I of the Match will be permitted to participate in Phase II of the Match. Applicants who withdraw from Phase II of the Match and who have not obtained an internship position will be permitted to participate in the Post-Match Vacancy Service operated by APPIC after the results of Phase II of the Match are released.
Withdrawing from the Match does not affect your eligibility to participate in the Match in future years.
