The MedPhys Match

  • What is the MedPhys Match?

The Medical Physics Matching Program (the MedPhys Match) provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain positions in medical physics residency programs of their choice, and to help programs obtain applicants of their choice.

The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Society of Directors of Academic Medical Physics Programs (SDAMPP) have endorsed the MedPhys Match. The administration and conduct of the MedPhys Match are carried out by National Matching Services Inc. (NMS), on behalf of AAPM and SDAMPP.

  • Is my residency eligible to participate in the MedPhys Match?

Any Medical Physics residency offering positions that start training between June 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, may participate in the 2024 MedPhys Match. AAPM and SDAMPP encourage all Medical Physics residency programs that start training on or around July 1 to participate, although programs recruiting for start dates later in the year may also want to participate and seek residents from the larger applicant pool.

Residencies do not need to be CAMPEP accredited in order to participate in the MedPhys Match; however, CAMPEP accreditation status should be disclosed to applicants since it may affect their eligibility for future Board certification.
