Registering Your Academic Program
Registration for the 2026 Extern Match is closed. Information about the 2027 Extern Match will be available in November, 2026
Only academic programs that are members of NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT can use the Extern Match.
Academic Programs do not register online in the Extern Match Portal. Academic Programs that are members of NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT will receive an email from NMS by the end of November with initial login credentials for the Extern Match Portal. If you do not receive that email by December 1, 2025, please contact NMS.
Academic Programs are responsible for ensuring that their students participate appropriately in the Extern Match and that both the Academic Program and its students comply with the Extern Match Guidelines.
Registering Your Students
Only students from academic programs that are members of NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT can register for and participate in the Extern Match.
Students must register individually online through the Extern Match Portal. Each student must pay a registration fee of $100 to participate in the Extern Match.
Paying Registration Fees for Your Students
Some academic programs may choose to pay the registration fees on behalf of their students. This can be done in one of three ways:
- Each student registers and pays the registration fee themselves, and the academic program then reimburses each student directly.
- Each student registers and pays the registration fee by using the academic program's credit card.
- The academic program identifies to NMS the students it intends to pay for, and NMS sends one consolidated invoice to the academic program for the fees for all the sponsored students. The academic program then pays the consolidated amount to NMS.
To request a consolidated invoice, complete the Consolidated Invoice Request Form. Please note:
- You will need to provide email addresses of all students whose registration fees you will fully cover. Each student must register in the Extern Match using the same email address you provided to NMS.
- NMS will email the DCT an invoice, showing the total number of students and the total amount due.
- After payment is received, NMS will send the DCT a coupon code for each student. The DCT must distribute the coupon code to each of the students so they can complete registration by paying with a coupon code.
- Instruct your students not to register until they receive the coupon code. Any fees paid directly by students are non-refundable.
