Eligibility Requirements

Applicants
The Extern Match is open only to applicants in NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT member doctoral programs, APA accredited doctoral programs and PCSAS accredited programs.
Applicants must have permission from their Director of Clinical Training to register and participate in the Extern Match.
Applicants are encouraged to contact individual sites and consult with their Director of Clinical Training for information about site-specific eligibility requirements, as these may vary by site.

Sites
To participate in the Extern Match, a site must be approved by NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT.
All sites that register to participate in the Extern Match are expected to adhere to the minimally acceptable standards for externship set out in the Extern Match Guidelines.
Extern Match Guidelines
The guidelines available at the link below govern the 2026 Extern Match for positions beginning in 2026. NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT are responsible for the rules, procedures, and ensuring the overall conduct of the Extern Match. NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT, at their sole discretion, may make changes to these Guidelines and the Schedule of Dates in unusual, unforeseen, and/or emergency circumstances.
