Start the Registration Process
1.
Use the link in the registration email to start the registration process.
Each site is sent a unique registration link from the Extern Match. If you have not received a personalized email to register your site by the end of the day on November 6, 2025, please complete the New Site Sign up Form.
2.
If your site will not be offering any positions that start training in 2026, do not complete the registration process; instead, use the appropriate link provided in the registration email sent to your site to indicate the site will not be participating in the 2026 Extern Match.

Set Up Your Account
The Primary Contact at each site will need to set up a new account in the Extern Match Portal for the 2026 Extern Match.
1.
Enter the email address of the Primary Contact.
The email address you enter will uniquely identify your account and will be your username for the Extern Match Portal.
- If you are responsible for more than one site, you can use the same account (email and password) for all your sites.
- If the email address entered is different from the one pre-populated on the screen, or if an account already exists with that email address, you will need to follow the onscreen prompts to confirm ownership of the email address.
-
What if I want Extern Match communications sent to another contact?
The Primary Contact must register the site for the Extern Match and have an account in the Extern Match Portal as they maintain primary responsibility for participation in the Extern Match.
Once registered, the Primary Contact can setup separate (secondary) user accounts for site staff from the Account page in the Extern Match Portal. Secondary users can be given permission to view, manage, and change all site information (except for managing users), and will be copied on all relevant communications sent to the Primary Contact related to the Extern Match.
2.
Provide a password and complete the security questions for your account.
Once your account has been created, you can log into the Extern Match Portal. If you quit the registration process before it is completed, you can log in at another time and complete the process.
PLEASE NOTE: To ensure emails from NMS are not inadvertently directed to your "Spam" or "Junk Mail" folder, please ensure all NMS emails and/or IPs are included on your Allow-List.

The Site and Track Information page is where you provide information about your site and the tracks that will be offered in the Extern Match.
1.
Site Information
If any of the information is incorrect, or is not pre-populated on the page, please update that information accordingly.
2.
Track Information
Track Description
Each site must offer one or more tracks in the Extern Match. A track refers to a specific stream or training experience at a site (e.g., positions with different types of training, or positions offered in different locations, or positions with different scheduling requirements, may be offered as separate tracks). Applicants will identify your externship by the combination of the site name provided in the Site Information section above and the label or description you provide for each track. The default track description is "Externship".
-
Adding a Track
If you wish to add a track, select the Add New Track link at the bottom of the track information section of the page. You must enter the number of positions to be filled in 2026, provide a track description or label and press the Add button. The description of each track offered by your site must be unique and distinguish that track from any other offered by the site (e.g., location, type of training, etc.). Track descriptions/labels are limited to 50 characters. A unique 5-digit Match Code Number will be assigned to the new track automatically by the system when it is added.
-
Deleting a Track
If a track that is pre-populated on the page will not be offering positions that start training in 2026, you should delete the track. Note that every site registered for the Extern Match must have at least one track. You will not be able to delete a track if it is the only one listed for the site.
Positions Available
You must verify or provide the number of positions to be filled in 2026 for each track offered in the Extern Match.
3.
Once all the information on the Site and Track information page has been entered correctly, select the Continue button.
4
Each site must electronically sign the Participant Terms. Read the Terms carefully, as your site will be committed to abide by the Terms once it is registered.
5
Registration Confirmation
After the registration process is complete for your site, you will receive a confirmation by email. The confirmation will include a copy of the Participant Terms, Schedule of Dates, as well as the Match Code Number and label/description for each track registered for the Extern Match.
