• What is the Extern Match?

  The Northeastern Regional Externship Match (Extern Match) is an application service and matching program that provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain externship positions of their choice, and to help externship sites obtain applicants of their choice.

• Is my site eligible to participate in the Extern Match?

  To participate in the Extern Match, a site must be approved by NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT.

  All sites that register to participate in the Extern Match are expected to adhere to the minimally acceptable standards for externship set out in the Extern Match Guidelines.

• Can positions for non-psychology doctoral students be offered in the Extern Match?

  No. The Extern Match is available only to students in psychology doctoral academic programs that are members of NYNJADOT & PENDELDOT.

• How do I register my site to participate in the Extern Match?

  A Primary Contact at each site is sent an email from the Extern Match with a personalized link and instructions for registering their site. If you do not receive a registration email by November 6, 2025, please complete the New Site Sign up Form.
