Application Service Overview
The NMS Match System provides online tools that allow applicants to send applications to programs, and allows programs to organize and evaluate applications submitted by applicants.
Prior to release of the CASPR results, programs must accept and consider only applications submitted by applicants through the NMS Match System. After the release of the CASPR results, programs obtain applications directly from individual applicants.
The CASPR application provides a common set of information on applicants.
The NMS Match System has a number of tools to help organize and manage your applications.
-
View Tools Available to Programs
- View interested applicants and access their applications
- Search and filter applications across a wide set of criteria
- Create customized scoring schemes to rate your applications
- Add notes and comments about each application
- Define and assign tags to help categorize applications according to criteria important to your program
- Assign applicants to one of five statuses to indicate their progress in your review process including interviews
- Export applicant information into CSV format
The NMS Match System will open for applicants to submit applications to programs beginning on July 20, 2026. The NMS Match System will open for programs to view applications beginning on November 2, 2026.
You must provide applicants with your institution and program's policies related to eligibility requirements for appointment.
Deadlines
Programs are given a default application deadline date of October 30, 2026. However, programs are free to extend the deadline date to any day up to February 18, 2027. No applications for the Match can be received after this date.
For MP II, programs are given a default application deadline date of March 10, 2027. However, programs are free to extend their MP II application deadline date up to March 15, 2027. No applications for MP II can be received after this date.
Please ensure that your program website and/or CASPR Program Directory listing clearly reflects your application deadline, process, and requirements so applicants have accurate and up-to-date information.
After an application is submitted, only Supplemental Material and reference letters may be updated by the applicant. Applicants may upload or replace a Supplemental Material document at any time up to the Rank Order List deadline. Although applicants must designate reference writers at the time of submission, letters are not required to be received by the application deadline. Applicants may only change pending reference letters up to the Rank Order List deadline, and reference writers may upload or replace letters at any time.
Programs retain sole discretion to determine whether materials submitted after the application deadline will be reviewed or considered in the selection process.
Programs are notified of updates to submitted applications, including changes to Supplemental Material or reference letters, through the Application Service daily digest email.
