Application Service Overview
The NMS Match System is closed for applications.
Applicants seeking positions in the Post-Match Process must send their applications to programs directly, not through the NMS Match System.
The NMS Match System is an online tool that allows applicants to send applications to programs, and allows programs to organize and evaluate applications submitted by applicants.
Prior to the MPII Rank Order List deadline, programs must accept and consider only applications submitted by applicants through the NMS Match System. After the release of the MPII results, programs may accept applications submitted from other sources, such as directly from applicants.
All core materials required for program applications are included in the NMS Match System application.
The Application Service also has a number of tools that you can use to help organize and manage your applications.
-
View Tools Available to Program Directors
- View interested applicants and access their applications
- Search and filter applications across a wide set of criteria
- Create customized scoring schemes to rate your applications
- Add notes and comments about each application
- Define and assign tags to help categorize applications according to criteria important to your site
- Assign applicants to one of five statuses to indicate their progress in your review process including interviews
- Export applicant information into Excel format
The NMS Match System will open for unmatched applicants to submit applications to programs participating in MPII beginning on March 9, 2023. Programs participating in MPII will be able to view MPII applications starting at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time on March 10, 2023.
You must provide applicants with your institution and program's policies related to eligibility requirements for appointment, including vaccination requirements.
Deadlines
No applications can be submitted after 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on March 13, 2023.
Application Contents
The standard CASPR application submitted by applicants includes the components listed below. All of the information submitted by an applicant to your program will be combined into one downloadable PDF file.
-

- Applicant's name
- Mailing Address
- Email address
- Primary and alternate phone numbers
- CASPR Code Number
- US citizenship status
- Prometric CMS ID

-
Personal Statement
Each application will include a Personal Statement uploaded by the applicant. The Personal Statement can be customized for your program if the applicant chooses to do so.
-
CV
Each application will include a CV/Resume uploaded by the applicant. The CV can be customized for your program if the applicant chooses to do so.
-
Letters of Reference
In order to submit an application, the applicant must identify three (3) individuals who will provide reference letters for the application. The applicant may select different reference writers for different programs, and reference writers may submit customized reference letters to each program if they wish to do so.
The reference writers are notified by CASPR of the request for a reference letter, and instructed to upload the reference letter for the applicant as a PDF document. Applicants cannot see the contents of the reference letters, but they are able to monitor the completion of the reference requests.
-
Supplemental Material
If your program has other information that it would like included as part of its application, you can request that applicants attach this information to their application as Supplemental Material.
Applicants can attach one Supplement Material PDF document to each application. This document can be updated after the submission of an application; you will receive an email notification from CASPR if a Supplement Material document attached to any of your applications has been updated.
If your program offers multiple tracks in CASPR, the applicant will be able to indicate on the application which track(s) they are interested in.
Access Applications
Applicants who apply to your program in MPII, as well as those who previously applied and are eligible for MPII, are marked with an MPII tag on your Applications List.

Requirements
All application requirements, including interviews, must be completed early enough so that your Rank Order List(s) for MPII can be submitted no later than the March 13, 2023 deadline.
List of Registered Applicants
Programs participating in CASPR have access to a List of Registered Applicants in the NMS Match System. The list shows the name and unique Code Number of all applicants who eligible to participate in MPII. Applicants who obtained a position in the Match are not eligible to participate in MPII and have been removed from the list.
Only applicants who are eligible for MPII can be included on a track MPII Rank Order List. Check that each applicant you intend to rank in MPII is included in the List of Registered Applicants.
