Applications

  • How to I get applications?

Programs that participate in the Match use the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) to review applications.

PhORCAS is a separate and distinct service from the Match, run by a different organization.

After a residency has registered for the Match, information about the residency is provided to PhORCAS by NMS, so that the residency will be included in PhORCAS and will be able to receive applications from applicants through PhORCAS.

  • My residency is not listed or has incorrect information in PhORCAS.

Only residencies that register for the Match are included in PhORCAS. You must register for the Match to be included in PhORCAS.

When a residency registers for the Match or updates their residency or program information in the NMS Match System, NMS sends that information to the PhORCAS on a nightly basis. Changes made to residency or program information may take up to 24 hours to be updated in the PhORCAS. If, after 24 hours, the information for your residency has not been updated in PhORCAS, please contact PhORCAS support at PhORCASinfo@PhORCAS.org or 617–612–2868.

Interviews

  • Can I tell an applicant that our program will rank them?

A program may voluntarily inform an applicant as to whether or not the applicant remains under consideration for appointment, but is not obliged to do so.

Programs must never request ranking information from any applicant, and applicants must never request ranking information from any program. Prior to the release of the Phase II Match results, neither party (applicant or program) may disclose to the other party any information regarding the positioning of any applicant or program on a Rank Order List.

Any expression of interest made during the discussion between a program and an applicant is subject to change based on further considerations.
