Results For Programs

The 2024 APPCN Match

Match Results

Residency sites must log into the NMS Match System to access their Match results.

Log Into the NMS Match System

  • Match Result Information Available in the NMS Match System
    • A downloadable PDF report which shows the applicants matched to your program(s), the number of positions offered and filled, and the results obtained by applicants ranked by your program(s). If your residency site offered more than one program in the Match, the results for all programs are available in a single report accessible from the Program Dashboard of any program that participated in the Match.
    • A downloadable file of information on applicants who either submitted Rank Order Lists but were not matched, or withdrew but indicated they were interested in seeking a position in the Post-Match Process. This information is provided for the use of programs with available positions.

You should contact the applicant(s) matched to your residency site as soon as possible after 12:00 p.m. noon Eastern Time on February 21, 2024 to acknowledge the Match results. In addition, you must document your agreement with each matched applicant in a letter to the applicant postmarked or emailed no later than 72 hours following receipt of the Match results.

Although NMS makes every effort to provide you with your Match result expeditiously, failure to receive your result in a timely manner does not affect your obligation to the applicants matched to your residency site.

Statistics

Post-Match Process

Programs with unfilled positions are permitted to seek applicants and fill positions that remain available independently of the Match. Prior to making offers to fill available positions, you must verify that the applicants have not previously been matched to other residency site programs nor accepted other offers. NMS is not involved in the filling of positions during the Post-Match Process.

Programs have access in the NMS Match System to information on unmatched applicants. To assist programs in identifying applicants who may be interested in their available position(s), the information provided on each unmatched applicant includes the type(s) of programs (adult, pediatric, lifespan) that the applicant indicated they would be interested in if they remained unmatched.

Registered applicants who did not obtain a position in the Match have access in the NMS Match System to a List of Programs with Available Positions. Programs that participated in the Match can log into the NMS Match System to update the information shown on the list, including contact information and the number of positions available in each program (see instructions below).

  • Instructions for Updating the List of Programs with Available Positions

Programs must log into the NMS Match System in order to update their contact information or the number of positions shown on the List of Programs with Available Positions.

Initially, only programs that were left with unfilled positions and did not indicate that they wanted to be excluded will be shown on the list. All programs that were active in the Match are able to update their information. Programs that did not register, or that registered but withdrew from the Match, are not able to update their information.

    • Updating Contact Information: Changes to contact information are made in the Profile section of the NMS Match System. Contact changes will apply only to the List of Programs with Available Positions and will not be reflected permanently in NMS records. Permanent changes to contact information after the Rank Order List deadline must be submitted to NMS in writing, not through the NMS Match System.

    • Updating the Number of Available Positions: Changes to the number of available Post-Match positions can be made from the Program Dashboard. Programs can be added to the List by setting the number of available positions to a number greater than zero, or removed from the List by setting the number of available positions to zero.

The system will close for updates on April 30, 2024.
