Applicants Help - Rankings Issues

The 2018 APPCN Match

Can I change my rankings after certifying my list?

Yes. Even if you have already certified your Rank Order List you can return at any time to make changes until the Rank Order List deadline.

If you make changes to a list after it is certified, the list will become uncertified and you will have to re-certify the list prior to the Rank Order List deadline in order for it to be used in the Match.

I do not intend to submit a Rank Order List. What do I need to do?

If you have accepted a position at a program that is not participating in the Match, or if you decide not to submit a Rank Order List for the Match for any other reason, then you must withdraw from the Match.

What are the implications of withdrawing?

If you withdraw, you will be displayed to residencies within the NMS Match System as withdrawn and you will not be matched to a position. Any rankings of programs you may have submitted will not be used in the Match. You will also not receive further communication about participating in the Match from NMS. However, you will still have access to the List of Programs with Available Positions that is posted after the Match.

Please Note: Withdrawing from the Match does not affect your eligibility to participate in the Match in future years.

Can I view my Rank Order List after the deadline?

You will be able to view your Rank Order List until 4 days after Rank Order List Deadline, until 11:59 p.m. March 24, 2018. However, you will not be able to change any information or certify a Rank Order List in the NMS Match System after the Rank Order List deadline.

I can't find a program in the List of Participating Programs.

Only programs that are registered for the Match are included in the list. The list is updated nightly.

If you have questions about the participation status of any program, contact the Program Director directly.

The program I want to rank is withdrawn.

You should leave the withdrawn program ranked on your list. If you leave the program on your list and the program's participation status in the Match becomes Active before the Rank Order List deadline, that ranking will be used in the Match. If the program remains withdrawn, that ranking will not be used in the Match, and your list will be processed as if you had not ranked the withdrawn program.
